Objective:
- Produce design whereby the client would create their own edible garden
Client brief:
- To be an achievable project for a gardener with limited experience
- To incorporate labour-saving techniques to support a manageable plot
- To be environmentally beneficial
Specific features:
- All plants grown to be edible in some way (from cornflowers to carrots)
- Include traditions of Sussex (corn dollies, woven willow/hazel hurdles)
- Locally sourced building materials (Sussex bricks, tiles and stone)
- Original sculptures by Sussex artists (bronze leaping frog and hand-carved cedar throne)
- Recycling of by-products and waste (compost area)
- Wildlife areas (lacewing house, log pile)
