Back Garden In Richmond, Surrey
A brand new townhouse in Richmond. Garden on two levels, lawn not worth keeping as nowhere to store lawnmower and nowhere to seat a family of four on lower patio level. Brief was to make the garden feel larger and more inviting to potential buyers, therefore colours and textures from inside were continued outside (ie, black, cream and white, modern lines and accessories). Large, architectural plants created an instant, mature garden. Raised beds made the garden "room" feel more enclosed and intimate. Beautiful Indian sandstone slabs against the polished black pebbles (covering the man-hole cover) provided a bold contrast and a large area for an elegant table and chairs for six people. Lighting was introduced to up-light some of the larger plants and the three black lattice obelisks.
